Introducing Halo Athletes
Halo are proud to announce the launch of Halo Athletes – a new initiative designed to support and celebrate exceptional sporting talent from Suffolk – with professional darts player Ryan Meikle unveiled as the first athlete to join the programme.
The programme builds on Halo’s commitment to supporting talent from its home region. It’s designed to give promising athletes the backing, opportunities, and visibility they need to progress in their sport and compete at the highest level.
Rooted in Halo’s sports team mentality, the initiative reflects our belief that surrounding talented individuals with the right environment and support can take performance to the next level – whether in sport or in business. It’s also about building pride in the region, creating role models for the next generation, and showing that Suffolk talent can succeed on the national and global stage.
About Ryan Meikle
Ryan, from Leiston in Suffolk, has been competing on the PDC Tour since 2016, turning professional at just 19 years old. Over the years, he has built a reputation for consistency and determination, earning a place among the Top 64 players in the world.
In the 2024 World Darts Championship, Ryan defeated Fallon Sherrock in the opening round before taking a set from eventual champion Luke Littler in a closely fought second-round match. His focus is now on securing qualification for the tournament again this December, while continuing to compete in major PDC events and climb the global rankings.
Life Beyond the Oche
Nicknamed ‘The Barber’, Ryan still works part-time cutting hair in Saxmundham when not competing, and is a dedicated Ipswich Town season ticket holder. His journey from a small Suffolk town to competing on the world stage reflects exactly what Halo Athletes is here to support.
