Worked Example – Receiving & Delivering Stock with Assets Created at The Point of Consignment

In this example, we will follow a similar process to that outlined in the previous Example with one key difference.

We will not be creating Assets when stock is Received, but when it is delivered. This example will be applicable when the following option is set in Configuration > Items and Stock Control.

Fig 1. Serialising Products When They are Consigned

We will still start with a Sales Order, then create a Purchase Order, then deliver our Product.

Fig 2. Creating a Sales Order

Again, I have selected 'Order Items', but this time I will specify to 'Deliver to the User'.

Fig 3. Delivering Directly to the Customer

When marking 'Deliver to the User', the whole 'Receive Stock' step is skipped. You're not getting the stock in then delivering the stock, but delivering directly.

A consequence of this is that you will no longer see the 'Receive Stock' option on the PO, but instead see a 'Consign Items' option in it's place.

Fig 4. The 'Consign Items' option on a Purchase Order, when marking 'Deliver to the User' at the point of Ordering (Fig 3)

Upon clicking this, you will be presented with a similar screen to that seen in the previous example.

This then creates the Asset and allocates it to the consignment site (either the site the Sales Order is against or the consignment site specified against the Sales Order Line – See Fig 19 in the previous example).
